Welcome to Jem Therapy, an independent Speech and Language Therapy service based on The edge of the New Forest providing services in and around the New Forest and Southampton.
What do Speech and Language Therapists do ??
Speech and language therapists are specialists in communication disorders. The ability to communicate is central to all that we do- to who we are, how we learn and how we relate to each other at home, at school and at work. Helping someone to communicate effectively is the best gift that we can give them.
Speech and language therapists assess and treat people with communication difficulties. Treatment may be offered both directly and indirectly - as part of the therapy programme a speech and language therapist may work directly with the person with communication difficulties but will also be involved in improving communication by supporting those in the person's communication environment. Speech and language therapists liaise with a number of allied professionals, including teachers, doctors, occupational therapists, physiotherapists and psychologists in order to offer the most effective service to the client.
